Class Policies


  1. You may register for most classes until the day the class begins - exceptions would be classes where we have to prepare a kit for each participant.  Remember that there are minimum enrollment requirements as well as maximum student number limitations.  You may not want to wait until the last minute to reserve your place.
  2. Payment of the entire class fee is required upon registration.
  3. Refunds will be given if for some reason the class has to be cancelled or if notification is given by the student at least one week before the class is to begin.
  4. Classes will be cancelled one week prior to the start date if enrollment is not sufficient.
  5. Students will be given a 10% discount on all supplies purchased at The Fig leaf for classes requiring materials (kits excluded).  Discounts will be given after the class fee has been paid and will last only for the duration of the class.

These beautiful collage quilts are all the rage right now. Have you been wanting to try one? Made one before and want to do it again with some friends? Join us for a three session class where we will work on the pattern of your choice or we will help you create and work from your own artwork or photograph! First class will be one hour, we will go over supplies and preparations. In the second class we will get hands on together fusing, cutting, and planning our layouts. In the final class we will work on final assembly! These quilts are amazing to look at and fun to make. Stretch your creativity and maybe even bust some stash! Sign up today, seats will be limited. Join us for this two year journey as we make the Dear Jane quilt and study the Civil War. There are 225 blocks in the quilt. We will make approximately 10 blocks a month.

Fleur de Lis Join us the second Tuesday of the month for the 2019 Hoopsisters Embroidablock of the Month Fleur de Lis. Let your embroidery machine do the applique and quilting for you as you make this stunning quilt from Hoopsisters. Laura will guide you through fabric selection, machine embroidery techniques and final construction of the quilt top. If you love machine embroidery and are looking for a more substantial project, this is perfect for you! Instructor: Laura Shotwell Fee: $125.00

Wednesday November 6th (three sessions) 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm. Or 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. You have a wonderful sewing machine that does beautiful embroidery, but you need help figuring out how to really use it. This is the class for you. Let us show you how to edit designs, make embroidered appliques, re-size designs and use patterns from other sources. We'll also show you how to restart your embroidery when the bobbin thread runs out, what to do when the thread breaks, etc. Bring your machine and your questions. Sunday September 1st 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Get exclusive ruler kits and tutorials from Handi Quilter delivered to The Fig Leaf each month! The HQ Ruler of the Month Club is a great opportunity to challenge your quilting skills and build ruler work confidence. Each month in the six-month series features a debut acrylic ruler paired with mentorship from us, step-by-step video instruction, and design ideas. This six month series features a whole cloth quilt project that uses all six rulers! What a great way to expand your quilting skills! The monthly cost of the ruler is $19.95. If you participate all six months you receive a free storage container from Handi Quilter. The first class is Sept. 1st, all other classes will be the fourth Sunday of the month to include Sept. 29th.

Join us in 2019 for Kim Diehl's Simple Whatnots Club. Club will meet the third Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. There is a larger quilt project as well as monthly small projects planned for the year. *One payment of $30 covers the whole year*

Sisterhood Retreats 2019 Sunday Janaury 6th 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Exercise your embroidery machine every month with these exclusive Hoopsisters projects. Come and stitch one of three themed projects from these talented designers. Sisterhood Retreats will happen the first Sunday of the month in January and February and will switch to the second Sunday of the month in March. You will be given a USB stick with the current months designs for your embroidery machine brand. Depending upon the size of the projects, you will stitch out a minimum of one project each month. We will supply the stabilizer, you bring your machine, thread and basic sewing supplies. You will be given a materials list each month, but we will have kits available for the monthly project. If you do not have an embroidery machine, you can reserve one of ours for $20.00 which will include use of our thread. Our January projects will be a Valentine theme - Valentine's Day card, gift box and magnets - giving you plenty of time to make a special gift for your favorite Valentine. Monday September 30th (twelve weeks) 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. We've found a really fun sampler quilt using each of the twelve designs from the new book Sunday Best Quilts! You're definitely going to want to join in on our fun quilt along. This one has a variety of traditional blocks set together with fun sashing and borders. Perfectly planned out, and contains many of our quilters "bucket list" blocks. We 'll be meeting Monday's beginning late September. Class will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Deb demonstrating the block and any special techniques with an option to stay and sew into the evening. Instructor: Deb Schneller Fee: $40.00 (book required)
