We are excited to announce a series with local quilter extraordinaire, David Taylor, this summer. Even if you don’t know the name, you’ve likely seen his work. His pictorial quilts have been featured and awarded in national and international shows for years. He will kick off this series with a lecture presentation all about what he does, and how he does it. The next three classes will get hands-on with technique and quilting, beginning and advanced. Free Motion Quilting: The Basics with David Taylor
SATURDAY JUNE 17 2023 10AM-3PM
This is a fast-paced beginners' class for learning basic free-motion machine quilting techniques on your own home machine. The class is structured around a series of quilt 'sandwiches' that will get everyone moving! Students will learn how to adjust tension on their own machine for perfect stitching and to find their own rhythm. Please have machines in clean, working order with a fresh needle installed. Machines must have free-motion quilting ability.
STUDENT SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Clean home sewing machine in working order. Machine MUST have free-motion capability. Please bring your manual with you if this is your frt time machine quilting.
• Free motion or darning foot for your machine
• Fresh needle(s) for your machine, size #80/12 or #90/14
Thread snips or small scissor
Small bag for thread ends
CLASS FEE: $75 Includes kit Kit includes all pre-washed fabric and batting sandwiches, machine quilting threads and machine needles.
